A Zillah landmark has been destroyed in a fire Sunday evening. Plumes of heavy dark smoke could be seen for miles. The blaze started at about 7p.m. at the Stonehenge Tavern in downtown Zillah. Firefighters say as far as they know, everyone made it out safely. A small neighboring building also burned; crews say it was used as storage space for the tavern.

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One is planning to ask voters to fund its capital facilities plan this summer with an $80 million bond. Voters would see the proposal on the Aug. 2 primary ballot. It would cost the owner of a $500,000 home $9.90 a month for 20 years, according to the agency – an estimated 24 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value.
