First Responders In California Blast Long Emergency Room Wait Times At Capitol Hearing

VIDEO: First responders at the California State Capitol on Wednesday blasted hours-long wait times to transfer patients to emergency rooms. Emergency health workers voiced their growing frustration during a hearing, saying the wait times are bad for patients and keep them from other calls. Some agencies reported waiting up to eight hours to transfer patients to emergency rooms.

Check Out This Maine Fire Department's Cool 'Sno-Bulance' Rescue Boggan

PHOTOS: Sometimes Fire Departments have some really cool tools at their disposal. This one, from the Town of Hermon Fire Department's Facebook page, caught my eye. So I reached out to Hermon Fire Chief Cody Sullivan to get the skinny on this member of Hermon's rescue fleet, the rescue-boggan, also known as the "snowbulance".

Three Injured in North Everett Apartment Fire

PHOTOS: Everett Firefighters had to rescue two people trapped in a second-floor unit at the Riverdale Apartments in the 1800 block of Chestnut after fire broke out around 12:30 AM Thursday morning. The two were unable to escape and were brought out by firefighters on a ladder run to a back bedroom of the fire unit by arriving crews.

Crews rescue two people after car goes over embankment in Tacoma

A team with Tacoma Fire rescued two people from a vehicle that drove off a steep embankment in the 6600 block of Marinera Street Tuesday afternoon. One person was safely raised to the street by 4:30 p.m. The second was raised to the road just before 5 p.m. Neither was seriously injured, according to Tacoma Fire.

State Representative Introduces Proposal to Create Grant Program for Rural Fire Departments

Legislation sponsored by Rep. Peter Abbarno, R-Centralia, and Rep. Dan Griffey, R-Allyn, would provide a new grant funding source for rural fire departments whose buildings and equipment are inadequate to meet the fire safety needs of their communities. House Bill 1929 would establish a competitive grant program under the state Department of Commerce to award funding of up to $2 million to local governments in rural counties for capital projects that would improve fire protection services.
