Construction of a New Winery Could Mean $2 Million for New Fort Lawn (SC) Fire Station

The Fort Lawn (SC) Fire Department could be in line for $2 million from the state to help build a new fire station, according to a CN2 News report.

The report says South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster is expected to allocate the funds for the new station ahead of news that E&J Gallo Winery is investing $423 million in a facility expected to bring in 500 jobs to the area. Providing solid fire protection service is a critical component to the project, the report says.

Ladder 2 Put in Service by Wausau (WI) Fire Department

An aerial truck designed by firefighters to accommodate the needs of the Wausau (WI) Fire Department, was put in service during a dedication ceremony at Fire Station 2 on Wednesday, according to a report published by WSAW CBS 7.

The new truck, built by Sutphen has a 75-foot mid-mount ladder, a 1,500-gpm pump and a remote-controlled aerial master stream, according to the television station.

It will carry advance life saving medical equipment and extrication tools as well, according to the report.

Ladder 2 will replace a 1984 apparatus that was decommissioned last year because of safety concerns, the report said.

Midland (TX) Puts New Fire Engine in Service, Placing One That Burned

Firefighters in Midland (TX) held a push-in ceremony for a new engine Thursday morning.

The new engine was largely funded by donations received after an engine was lost in a fire in December 2019, according to a report published by NewsWest 9.

The new engine will be staffed at Station 11 on Briarwood Road.

WV Federal Prison Staff Name New Fire Truck ‘Tallulah’

A name has been given to a new fire truck at the Federal Prison Camp in Alderson, Summers County, WV. The staff named the new engine “Tallulah,” which means leaping water, lady of abundance, according to a report published by The Register-Herald.

The apparatus will be used by the recently reinstated inmate firefighter training program which originally was implemented in 1978, according to the report.

The 2022 Pierce apparatus was purchased through Atlantic Emergency Solutions to enhance the training program and to be of service for mutual aid calls in the Alderson community, according to the newspaper.

Funds from the First Step Act were used to buy the new truck, according to the newspaper which also reported the legislation was first passed by Congress in 2018 to reduce recidivism, decrease the federal inmate population and maintain public safety.
