Covington (VA) Fire Apparatus Hit, Firefighter Taken to Hospital

A Covington firefighter was taken to the hospital Wednesday after his apparatus was hit by a tractor trailer during a busy day for the department.

“Today while on scene of a motor vehicle accident on I64, an apparatus of our department was struck by a tractor and trailer,” the department writes on Facebook. “One firefighter was transported to Lewis Gale Alleghany and was later released. In addition to these incidents, our department also responded to a smoke alarm activation, a brush fire, and a structure fire. Totaling 5 calls for our department today. A huge thanks to all of our surrounding county departments for the mutual aid assistance today. These departments include Companies 1,2,5,6,7,8,9 Rescue 3, EMS 3 and Rescue 1. #slowdownmoveover

McPherson (KS) Fire Department Apparatus Hit En Route to Call

A McPherson Fire Department apparatus en route to a call north of town Wednesday afternoon was involved in a crash, reports kwch.com.

Just prior to 2:30 p.m. near Oak Park Drive on Main Street, a 77-year-old Marion woman driving a 2003 Ford Taurus pulled out in front of the truck, the report says.

Officials say two firefighters were among the three injured in the crash. Police officials say the only serious injury was to the driver of the Taurus.

Video: Demolition of Bishops Waltham (U.K.) Fire Station

The demolition of Bishops Waltham Fire Station got underway Wednesday.

“The demolition of the old @B_Waltham40 fire station began yesterday before the building work on the new station gets underway. Last month our on-call firefighters moved into their temporary home, where they continue to respond to incidents,” the department writes on social media.

Steele Creek (NC) Gives Cold Shoulder to Planned New Firehouse
