Lehi is growing and now has a third fire station within its city limits. Multiple fire departments from Utah County and Salt Lake County lined the bays of Station 83, the newest Lehi fire station on Traverse Mountain Boulevard above Harmons Grocery. The new station sits in northeast Lehi, high on the hill overlooking the valley. The city built the station to help the Lehi Fire Department maintain prompt response times for the city’s rapidly growing population, especially in its northeast quadrant. Construction of the station began in October 2016. According to Lehi Fire Chief Jeremy Craft, on the morning of New Year’s Eve, the station will start taking calls.

Forsyth County (GA) Fire Stations in Line for $300K in Security Improvements

Firefighters in Forsyth County are likely feeling safer after several personal vehicles were targeted in burglaries earlier this year. Commissioners voted this week to authorize $300,000 in security improvements at 13 stations, Division Chief Jason Shivers said. The action is obviously welcome by firefighters.

Commissioners voted this week to authorize $300,000 in security improvements at 13 stations, Division Chief Jason Shivers said.  

Planned improvements include standalone cameras ($77,000), outside  lighting upgrades at 11 stations ($39,000) and access cards at 11 stations ( $33,000).

Work to build a fire station behind Naples City Hall is expected to cost about $3 million over budget, prompting a recommendation for the Naples City Council to borrow money for the project. Leading bids from construction firms to complete the work came in between $8 million to $10 million.

Leading bids from construction firms to complete the work came in between $8 million to $10 million. The council only has about $5.6 million set aside for the project.  

The council on Wednesday will consider awarding a nearly $8.6 million contract to the lowest bidder, Manhattan Construction. The Naples-based firm is part of Rooney Holdings, owned by U.S. Rep. Francis Rooney and his family.  

The new two-story fire station, expected to stand for at least 50 years, will be built with special protections intended to withstand hurricanes as strong as a Category 5. It will also serve as the city’s emergency operations center.

As fire chief, the late D. Lee Morgan lived and breathed all things Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department. "He always wanted the Shepherdstown Fire Department to be a top fire department," his wife, MaryAnn Morgan, said Sunday after the department's truck dedication ceremony.
