Online fundraiser for family of former Pennsylvania firefighter killed at Trump rally raises $1 million

VIDEO: An online fundraiser for the family of Corey Comperatore, the man who died shielding his family from gunfire at Saturday's Donald Trump rally in Butler, has raised $1 million. Jason Bubb, the owner of Three Fit Six gym in Cabot, organized the fundraiser. He said Comperatore's daughter Allyson has been a member of his gym since day one.

Black Fire Brigade training next generation of Chicago area firefighters and EMTs

VIDEO: A South Side organization is paving the way for the next generation to become first responders. The Black Fire Brigade recently celebrated its 6th anniversary by opening a new educational center in Washington Park. All of the students who have gone through the program have gotten jobs as firefighters or EMT's.

'Emerging Threat' Xylazine Use Continues to Spread Across the United States

Illicit use of the veterinary tranquilizer xylazine continues to spread across the United States. The drug, which is increasingly mixed with fentanyl, often fails to respond to the opioid overdose reversal medication naloxone and can cause severe necrotic lesions. A report released by Millennium Health, a specialty lab that provides medication monitoring for pain management, drug treatment, and behavioral and substance use disorder treatment centers across the country, showed the number of urine specimens collected and tested at the US drug treatment centers were positive for xylazine in the most recent 6 months.

Facing levy compression, Walla Walla County Fire District No. 4 asks voters for lid lift

The fire district that covers the area directly west, south and east of Walla Walla and College Place is asking voters in its district to approve a lid lift of the fire levy that would pay for, among other things, additional professional firefighters. The issue will be on the Tuesday, Aug. 6, primary election.

Firefighters Quick to Contain 5 Acre Wildfire West of Clarkston

Firefighters from Asotin County Fire District #1 were called just after 3 a.m. Tuesday morning to a fire on Silcott Grade Road, about 5 miles west of Clarkston. Firefighters attacked the fire with hand crews and trucks and were able to contain the fire to about 5 acres. Firefighters cleared the scene by about 5:30 a.
