Burnt Ridge (AR) Volunteer Fire Department Opens Third District Station

The Burnt Ridge (AR) Volunteer Fire Department now has three stations in its district, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Holley Mountain Airpark on Monday, November 8.

The facility will house a fire engine, a brush truck, and a service truck, according to thecabin.net.

Officials say the new facility will allow quicker response to the Highway 110 and Shirley Fire Districts, as well as lower the ISO rating for area homes.

The Holley Mountain Air Park Fire Department was closed in 2019, consolidating into Burnt Ridge due to difficulties in maintaining its volunteer base, according to the report.

The Holley Mountain Property Owners Association raised funds to build the 50-by-40-foot station there, which it leases to Burnt Ridge Fire for $1 per year.

Woman in Ohio follows mom’s footsteps with goal of becoming a firefighter

Capt. Courtney Kelly has had the firefighting bug since she was a little girl. “Once I became a paramedic, I was, I was sold on fire,” Kelly said. Kelly, who has been with the Youngstown Fire Department for 15 years, was the last female hired by the department. It’s little wonder that her daughter, Maddie, now wants to take her shot, ever since completing the firefighter academy at Choffin Career and Technical Center.
