Paramedics began working out of Spokane Valley Fire Station 9 near the southern edge of Spokane Valley this fall for the first time since it opened in 2009. While the station still only has a paramedic on duty about 40% of the time, it marks an important step toward the department having 24/7 paramedic coverage at all 10 of its stations, Valley Fire EMS Chief John Leavell said.

In October 2020, Renton firefighters used flashlights as they walked through the vacant building — formerly a Denny’s establishment. Curtains divided the interior into various areas with mattresses, blankets, furniture. Phoenix firefighters battled a massive third-alarm blaze in at a warehouse early Wednesday morning. Phoenix fire officials tell Arizona’s Family that crews were called out to 13th Avenue and Roosevelt Street just after midnight. When firefighters arrived, they found massive flames and large plumes of smoke billowing from a warehouse in the area.
