Brunswick (ME) Officials Not Concerned About Traffic By New $13M Station

Brunswick (ME) officials say they’re confident that, despite the area’s notorious traffic congestion, the location of the $13 million fire station won’t pose a problem, reports pressherald.com.

Approved in February and now under construction at the intersection of Pleasant and Webster streets, the new station looks to upgrade from the 102-year-old facility at 21 Town Hall Place, the report says.

According to town officials, the plan for emergency personnel to navigate congestion is by controlling traffic signals from the station and having vehicles leave the station on Webster Street.

Jeffersontown (KY) Fire Department Celebrates Remodeled Station 1

The Jeffersontown (KY) Fire Department Thursday held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its remodeled Station 1 at 10540 Watterson Trail, reports wdrb.com.

Station 1 was originally built as a volunteer department in the 1960s. The interior has since seen a few upgrades, according to the report, but this renovation was to first to its exterior.

Jeffersontown currently has three fire houses and looks to add a fourth near Taylorsville Road and the Gene Snyder Freeway in 2022, says the report. The department has more than 90 fire and EMS members and covers 40 square miles.

Escambia County (FL) Commission Approves $2.4M Purchase for Five Fire Apparatus, Four Ambulance Chassis

The Escambia County Commission Thursday approved a $2,415,313.38 purchase for five new vehicles for Escambia (FL) Fire Rescue, in addition to four new ambulance chassis, reports northescambria.com.

The purchase from Rev Group will include a 2022 E-One Typhoon custom chassis HR100 ladder truck for $1,066,660, which will be placed at the Osceola Fire Station on Massachusetts Avenue, the report says.

The county is also purchasing a 2022 E-One Typhoon custom chassis pumper for $657,047.84 and a 2022 E-One Typhoon Custom Chassis e-MAX Pumper Rescue Vehicle. Those apparatus will go to the McDavid and Ferry Pass fire stations. The report notes they also approved the purchase of two 2022 Ford F-250 crew cab 4×4 pickup trucks for $152,272 total.

In 2020, the county placed four new engines into service for a bit over $2 million to replace aging trucks in Molino, Ensley, Myrtle Grove, and Pleasant Grove, according to the report.

The purchase of four new Ward International ambulance chassis for $338,000 will be part of four remounts to be completed after October 1, says the report.

Chateaugay-Brainardsville (NY) Fire Commissioner Resigns Over Apparatus Purchase

A commissioner with the Chateaugay-Brainardsville (NY) Fire Commission has resigned over a dispute on whether to purchase a new fire truck, according to a report published by The Malone Telegram.

The newspaper reported the resignation stems from financing disagreements and disputes involving a decision about buying a new fire truck. Those who support the purchase say they useful life span of 30 years for an apparatus has been reached and to keep it around any longer, would cost the department and the district taxpayers more money, the paper added.

Voters approved the purchase on September 7 and the commissioner tendered his resignation the day the referendum passed, according to the newspaper. His view, according to the paper, was hold on to the money the district had and adjust spending to avoid any large expenses.

The remaining commissioners have filled the vacancy and that person plans to run for the post in November, the paper reported.

Amory (MS) Gets Donation Toward New Rescue Truck

A new rescue truck is a little closer to becoming a reality for the Amory (MS) Fire Department after it received a $30,000 check toward the purchase, according to a story published by the Monroe Journal.

The newspaper reported the donor, who has previously donated to the local police department and funded the community’s K9 unit, the newspaper reported.

Amory’s fire chief said the current rescue truck is a 1995 model and was purchase for use on extrication calls, the paper reported. The replacement truck will be four-wheel drive, the newspaper reported, adding that the current truck is limited by being just two-wheel drive.
