Help Whatcom Fire District win $5,000 worth of bunker boots in online contest

Much of the equipment required to accomplish firefighting and keep firefighters safe is expensive and bunker boots firefighters wear are no different. This is why Division Chief of Training & Safety Darren Branum of Whatcom County Fire District 1 (WCFD1) jumped at the opportunity to win 10 pairs of HAIX Fire Eagle Air bunker boots, a $5,000 value, by entering an online competition.

NWFR levy lid lift would help department add firefighters and replace equipment

North Whatcom Fire and Rescue (NWFR) will have its levy lid lift back on the ballot in the general election November 2 after failing in the primary election in August. If the lift lid passes, NWFR will collect property taxes in 2022 at a levy rate of $1.45 per $1,000 of assessed value. NWFR will use the tax increase to maintain current service levels and add four battalion chiefs and four firefighters to the ranks.

Naffco’s Falcon 8×8 Unveils World’s Largest Fire Apparatus

The Falcon 8×8 is the largest firetruck in the world and was unveiled at the Dubai Intersec exhibition, reports The National News.

The truck is still in its production phase. Designed to combat airport fires, the Falcon 8×8 has a tank, cabin and body covers made of fiberglass. The fire engine is capable of hauling more than 18,000 litres of water.

Mahoning Valley (PA) Fire Company Puts Fire Apparatus in Service

Mahoning Valley have acquired brush truck 641, reports Blue Ridge Communications.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “It’s completed!!! Check out the link for the finished photos. We hope to take final delivery next week. The members of Mahoning Valley Vol Fire Co No 1 would like to thank both the manufacturer Firematic and the dealership Glick Fire Equipment Company for working with our truck committee and providing us with this multifunctional piece of apparatus. It will enhance our service to Mahoning Township and surrounding communities for many years to come.”

The new brush truck will be dedicated this Saturday during the fire companies “Celebration of Community” event.

Dennis Township (NJ) Puts Fire Apparatus in Service

The Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company recently put a new 2021 Pierce Rescue Pumper into service, reports The Press of Atlantic City.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “Ocean View Fire Company has taken delivery and placed in service a 2021 Pierce Enforcer Heavy Duty Rescue Pumper. Designated as Squad 17, the new apparatus features a 730 gallon water tank, 20 gallon foam tank, Compressed Air Foam System and a set of Hurst eDRAULIC rescue tools. This replaces a 2005 Pierce Enforcer Pumper and 2000 EVI Walk in Rescue. Squad 17 will respond from the South Seaville firehouse located on Main Street. We would like to thank the Commissioners and residents of Dennis Township Fire District No. 1 for your continued support!”

The truck also will carry hydraulic extraction equipment, which is often used to free people trapped in vehicles after serious wrecks.
