A historic railroad bridge near the town of Beverly was destroyed by a small brush fire Monday evening. The fire burned about 10 acres of sage brush but destroyed the small railroad bridge that is part of the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail, according to the sheriff’s office. The bridge crosses over Crab Creek near Beverly.

The El Dorado City Commission approved a fire truck purchase, reports The Butler County Times-Gazette.

The purchase is for a fire engine to replace Engine No. 9, which will then be moved to reserve status, replacing an older engine currently on reserve status.

Toledo Fire & Rescue Department have a message to the community to slow down after several of its vehicles were in major accidents, reports WTOL 11.

A deadly crash involving a Toledo fire truck started in late June. The 43-year-old driver of a SUV died. The next accident caused $50,000 in repairs. The third accident was and ambulance that was hit head-on by another driver and the driver was cited for failure to yield.

The department currently has five backup engines, four backup ambulances, two backup ladder trucks and a backup heavy rescue.

The city and fire department held a ceremony to welcome a new tower truck, reports Richmond Register.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “We had the honor and privilege to introduce to our community the newest asset to our fleet. This new 100 foot ladder and platform Ariel apparatus enhances the response and safety we provide along with technology upgrades that enhance firefighter safety. This new fire truck replaces a 25+ year old apparatus in our fleet. We’re excited to share this truck with our community.”

Purchase of the new truck was granted by the former city commission from 2020, and money was allocated to purchase the truck with a price tag of nearly $1.5 million. The former truck was purchased in 1994.

A new custom built ladder truck has been placed into service at Fire Station 28 in southwest Houston.

The 2021 ladder truck is a custom built, 105-foot, aerial ladder unit manufactured by Spartan Emergency Response Vehicles. It is able to move up to 1,500 gallons per minute with the water nozzle having the ability to be moved for better access to roofs, windows, or stokes basket rescues.

The interior of the unit is also well equipped for members safety with eight airbags, including those that protect from side impacts, knee bags, and full side curtain airbags. The unit also came fully equipped with a compliment of tools, radios, air packs and saws at a total price of $1,740,000.

The funding was approved by Mayor Sylvester Turner to replace the previous unit which was destroyed in a fire.
