Macomb County (MI) Fire Stations Hold Open House Events

Several Macomb County fire departments will host annual observations this weekend, reports Macomb Daily.

Upcoming open houses include:

• Armada Township, 23175 Armada Center Road, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10. Fire trucks on display, safety demonstrations, bounce house, snacks and refreshments.

• Clinton Township Fire Headquarters, 42601 Romeo Plank Road, noon- 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9. Safety demonstrations, smoke house, spray the fire hose, light refreshments, free grab bags. Call 586-263-8437.

• Mount Clemens Fire Department, 2 Dickinson Street, noon- 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24. Safety information, equipment displays, free hot dogs, popcorn, cider and donuts.

•  St. Clair Shores Central Fire Station, 26700 Harper Avenue) noon-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10. Car-cutting demonstrations, fire equipment on display, free cider and donuts, courtesy of Firefighters Local 1744.

• Shelby Township Fire Station No. 1, 6345 23 Mile Road (between Van Dyke Avenue and Mound Road), 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9. Tours of the station, educational displays, Sparky the Dog, dunk tank with proceeds benefitting the Great Lakes Burn Camp.

Two children sent to hospital from smoke inhalation after Kelso house fire

A Tuesday fire displaced several families from a Kelso home and sent two children to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue Public Information Officer Bryan Ditterick said the fire was likely started when a space heater or hot plate ignited items around them, but an investigation still is pending.

Hawkins County (TN) VFA Receiving Donated Fire Apparatus

The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland is set to donate one of its fire trucks to the Hawkins County Volunteer Fireman’s Association, reports Times News.

The 1999 American LaFrance pumper is valued between $45,000 to $50,000. Over the past year, Hawkins County’s volunteer fire departments also acquired a fire truck, fire equipment and breathing apparatus masks and harnesses from different volunteer departments.

The recipient department will be decided by the Hawkins County Volunteer Fireman’s Association’s executive board.

Aurora (WV) VFD Fire Apparatus Lawsuit Heads to Federal Court

The lawsuit against an auto dealership over a burned Aurora VFD fire truck is being transferred to a federal court, reports WVNews.com.

According to the lawsuit, Aurora took its 2004 Ford F-Super Duty 550 to the dealership. The dealership claimed it replaced the turbo, the charge air cooler, performed a diesel lube, oil and filter change, and changed the fuel and oil filters.

Firefighters came to pick up the truck and noticed an odor. They then found oil on the turbo and dripping onto the floor. When they went to return to the dealership, the truck caught fire.

Arch Insurance is suing Shaffer Ford for breach of contract, negligence, negligent misrepresentation/fraud and breach of warranties.
