Another wildfire has sparked in Chelan County, this time near the town of Chelan, prompting Level 2 "Be Prepared" evacuations.
According to officials, the Stayman Flats Fire has torched 30 acres in the hills southwest of Chelan. Level 2 evacuations — meaning "be prepared to leave" — have been issued for the areas near Hawks Meadow Rd.

Tom Turley, still clad in slippers, surveyed the damage to one of the shops at his Cheney business. He's been up since midnight when the fire at Turley Logging and Timberland Management was called in.

Hundreds of firefighters are in the depths of the Olympic Peninsula battling a fire on Mount Jupiter, just west of the small town of Brinnon in Jefferson County.
There's no such things as days off when you're the fire chief.
"There was fire behavior that I've never seen before,” said Brinnon Fire Department Chief Tim Manly.

Multiple firefighters were hurt after a roof collapsed while they were battling a three-alarm house fire at a Mesa home on Monday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m., Mesa firefighters were called to a barbeque fire that had spread to the attic of a home on Downing Circle, just north of University Drive and Greenfield Road.
