Authorities say Leavenworth area firefighters not at fault in rollover crash at wildfire up north

A telling phone conversation with Okanogan County Sheriff Tony Hawley revealed that the firefighters who rolled a firefighting apparatus at the Cedar Creek Fire near Winthrop are not being faulted for the wreck. Hawley says the Chelan County Fire District 3 truck was traversing Wolf Creek Road at around 7 a.

Marlborough (MA) Considers New Fire Station

Officials and residents met to discuss plans for a new fire station, reports CommunityAdvocate.com.

Both the mayor and fire chief advocated for the proposed location saying that it has been selected due to examining population centers. Response times for part of the area now fall outside a four-minute benchmark.

As the majority of the fire department’s calls are medical emergencies, decreasing the response times is critical.

Some residents voiced concern for the sound pollution and traffic concerns of the fire station. Fire officials emphasized the fire department’s commitment to being “good neighbors.”

Leland (NC) Adding Third Fire Station

Leland is building a third fire station to serve a rapidly growing community, reports WECT.com.

The locations of the fire stations will form a triangle and are expected to decrease response times by five minutes.

The new fire station will be focused on firefighter health and will include a new decontamination area.

Leland Fire has also hired nine firefighters that will work out of the new station and will hire three more in the near future.

Renovations Considered for North Hempfield VFC (PA) Fire Station

Officials have approved an agreement with an architectural consulting services firm to present a plan for possible renovations to a fire station, reports TribLive.com.

The plan is expected to help officials budget for the project and explore updates and physical changes of the building, general code requirements and will consider handicapped accessibility. The look and feel is expected to provide a template for future fire stations.

This project is slated to cost $15,000 and will take between eight and 12 weeks to complete.

Weymouth (MA) Fire Station to Reopen

Weymouth is reopening a fire station that has been closed since 2008, reports The Boston Globe.

The fire station had been closed due to budget constraints during the prior mayoral administration. The current mayor had promised to re-open the fire station which serves a community of 58,000. Fire officials said this will provide more safety with reduced response times and improve firefighter safety by having more firefighters at the scene of fires or other emergencies.

The fire station is expected to be operational no later than October.
