Three Girls Accused of Vandalizing Burlington (MI) Fire Station

Three young girls are being accused of breaking into, and then vandalizing, a Burlington fire station, reports ABC 12 News.

The fire department reports that coffee, sugar packets, sugar, stirrers and more strewn all over the floor in a meeting room. The fire department says professional cleaners attended to the mess.

Their parents are reportedly being cooperative with investigators

Follow Up: Investigators Think Pasco House Fire Was Possibly Arson

Drivers making their way along Highway 240 past Columbia Park Monday afternoon could see the plume of dark black smoke, and even the flames shooting from the windows of this house across the river in Pasco. Pasco Police say around 3:30PM fire crews responded to this structure fire near the corner of Sylvester and Road 56, and found the fire shooting our of upstairs windows.

Crab Orchard (KY) Rescue Truck Badly Damaged in Crash While Responding

A collision while responding to another motor vehicle totaled the Crab Orchard (KY) Fire Department’s rescue truck, according to an article published by The Interior Journal newspaper.

According to the newspaper report, Rescue 1, being driven by Fire Chief Larry Owsley, collided with another vehicle while responding to another collision and were overtaking a vehicle when it allegedly turned in front of the responding apparatus. There were minor injuries to the two occupants of the rescue truck as well as the driver of the other vehicle, the newspaper reported. All patients were checked and treated and released from a local hospital.

The fire chief told the newspaper he believes the truck, which is a 1997 model year with 12,000 miles, is totaled because it has a bent frame and other damage. The department is awaiting a report from the Kentucky state police and a determination from the insurance company.

The newspaper reported Crab Orchard will likely rely on help from neighbors until a replacement can be purchased.

Man Discovers Wasp Nest, Tries to Burn it, Ignites Home

The Hutchinson (KS) Fire Department responded to a fire at 929 West 2nd Ave. after the homeowner burned a mattress and ragweed in an attempt to destroy a wasp nest. The makeshift pest-repellent ignited the home, and fire crews showed up to extinguish it at 10:47 p.m. Sunday.

First-arriving crews reported heavy fire and smoke showing from the single-story home’s rear, with the lone occupant removed at the time.

Crews noted they had a difficult time entering the home due to hoarder-like conditions; they described the abode as uninhabitable.

No firefighters were injured during the incident, and investigators interviewed the homeowner and determined the cause of the fire.

The Hutchinson Fire Department was assisted by the Reno County 911 Dispatch Center, Hutchinson Police Department, Reno County EMS, Kansas Gas, and Evergy.
