DeKalb County (GA) Fire Apparatus Hit at Accident Scene

A fire truck that responded to the scene of a crash was hit by a car, reports 11 Alive.

DeKalb Fire said that no firefighters were hurt but there were injuries, some were critical.

Casper-Natrona County Airport (WY) Welcomes Fire Apparatus

The Casper-Natrona County airport now has a Oshkosh 6X6 striker, reports Wyoming News Now.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “We were fortunate to display our new Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting truck alongside one of the original Army Air Base fire trucks (1942 Chevy) that was restored by the Friends of the Wyoming Veterans Museum. A bit of a change from 1942 to 2021!”

The fire truck has one hose that can spray up to 1,200 gallons per minute and another that can spray up to 1,500 gallons per minute. The arm at the top of the truck can inject a plane with water or foam, if needed.

Southeast Washington: 28,000 acres burned near Asotin, another wildfire ignites near Walla Walla

Emergency first responders and fire crews from throughout Southeast Washington are combatting a string of wildfires that were caused by passing thunderstorms on Wednesday morning. According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture — Forest Service, authorities from the Pomeroy Ranger District are hard at work trying to contain wildfires across the Umatilla National Forest.

Hutchinson (KS) Fire Department’s Plans for New Station Approved

The Kansas State Fair Board approved the Hutchinson (KS) Fire Department’s plans for a new station on the fairgrounds during a recent meeting, reports hutchpost.com.

The department originally wanted to expand its current station at 20th and Main, and asked the fair for some land adjacent to the building. Those plans were ixnayed and now the new digs will be located near the 23rd Avenue gate just north of the North Sunflower Building. The seven-person station will have direct access to Main Street. 

The project is budgeted for 2022 with a cost around $4.5 million. Officials say they hope to get the project moving before the end of the year.
