WSDOT incident response vehicle struck on northbound I-405 in Bothell

A Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Incident Response Team (IRT) truck was struck by another vehicle on northbound I-405 just south of State Route 527 in Bothell Wednesday morning. The toll lane and left general purpose lane of I-405 are currently closed. A 3-mile backup was reported in the area just before 11 a.

Benton County Fire Captain named 2021 EMS Responder of the Year

Congratulations to Captain Scott Hawley, from the Benton County Fire Protection District 2, for being this years EMS Responder of the Year! This past weekend Captain Hawley was awarded the 2021 EMS Responder of the Year for Washington State at the annual 2021 Washington State Fire Fighters' Association Annual Fire School and Conference held in Wenatchee, WA.

Chilmark (MA) Approves New Fire Station

Chilmark voters unanimously approved $11.1 million to build a new fire station and a separate headquarters for Tri-Town Ambulance, reports MV Times.

Efforts have been made for years to provide Chilmark firefighters with a replacement for their cramped, deteriorated, and asbestos-lined station.

The vote paved the way for the ambulance service for Aquinnah, Chilmark, and West Tisbury, to have a standalone place to call home.

Hattiesburg (MS) Celebrates Fire Station Opening

Hattiesburg city officials and first responders gathered at Fire Station #9 to celebrate the new station’s opening, reports WDAM 7.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “Today was a good day to cut the hose on Fire Station #9! Fire Station #9 is located at the intersection of Hwy 49 North and Irby Road and will service North Hattiesburg. The station is approximately 10,000 square feet, accommodates two fire trucks (ladder and pumper) and a battalion chief truck. It sleeps eight with room for growth and expansion if needed.A lot of people made today possible, and we’re grateful to be equipped with a state-of-the-art facility to serve the citizens of Hattiesburg along this commercial corridor.”

Demolition of Monroe (MI) Fire Station Begins

Demolition of the City of Monroe’s old fire station has started, reports The Monroe News.

The demolition of the 53-year-old building is expected to be completed by June 30, despite a delay that occurred when the original firm hired to oversee the demolition was impacted by COVID-19.

The fire station’s poles and alarms have been preserved, along with various signs and other mementos, with the intent to eventually put as much as possible on display for visitors at the city’s new fire station.

Fire officials said they were sad to see the demolition due to the many memories of working in the fire station.
