Ferrara® Equips Yonkers Fire Department with New Pumper

New York State Fire Department Adds Ferrara Inferno® Custom Rescue Pumper to Emergency Fleet

HOLDEN, LA – July 7, 2021 – Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., a subsidiary of REV Group® and a leading manufacturer of custom built, heavy-duty fire apparatus, announces the purchase order for a new Inferno Custom Rescue Pumper to the Yonkers Fire Department in New York.

The new apparatus, an Inferno with an MVP extruded aluminum body, will replace the department’s current rescue/pumper. It will be used by Yonkers Squad 11 which serves the city’s east side. John Folkerts, Chief of Operations for the city of Yonkers, says the Ferrara unit will be a welcome addition to the department’s fleet.

Ferrara is committed to using the latest technologies to better equip and protect firefighters. According to Folkerts, firefighter safety is always their number one priority when considering new apparatus. The new Yonkers unit is equipped with an Active Air Purification System™ designed to protect firefighters by improving the air quality in the apparatus cabin.

One of the challenges facing the Yonkers Fire Department according to Folkerts is the city’s continued growth and the addition of more high-rise buildings. He says the department must prepare for these larger structures. To meet these challenges, the Pumper will be equipped with a 2250 GPM Waterous® two-stage pump.

Folkerts explains that the department chose Ferrara because of the successful relationship they have built since their first Ferrara purchase in 2015. He says he appreciates that Ferrara delivers consistent quality, stands behind its product and goes above and beyond to support its customers. Folkerts goes on to say, “Ferrara is an easy choice. The Yonkers Fire Department would like to thank the men and women of Ferrara for their hard work and dedication in producing the quality apparatus we depend on to protect the citizens of our city.”
