Hillsdale (MI) FIre Truck Purchase Moves Ahead

HILLSDALE - The Hillsdale City Council voted in favor of purchasing a new fire apparatus Monday night from Emergency Vehicles Plus in Milan.The new apparatus is currently being built by Rosenbauer Minnesota, LLC and will cost the city $447,048.Hillsdale City Fire Chief Scott Hephner included three request for proposal bids Monday night from three local banks requesting to finance $410,000 to cover costs of the new truck."We've tried to maintain the equipment,"
The city of Hillsdale (MI) is moving ahead with the purchase of a new rig.

The new apparatus is currently being built by Rosenbauer Minnesota, LLC and will cost the city $447,048. According to a report, the department decided not to replace a fourth full-time firefighter to help with financing for the new truck.

Holdrege (NE) Fire Truck Tips Over During Training

HOLDREGE - A Holdrege Volunteer Fire Department tanker tipped during fire training at the Holdrege Airport at about 3:07 p.m. Sunday. Two people from other fire departments training in the vehicle received medical attention but were uninjured, said HVFD Chief Dan Wagner.
A Holdrege (NE) fire apparatus tipped over during a training evolution at an area airport on Sunday, according to Kearney Hub.

Holdrege Volunteer Fire Department Chief Dan Wagner said he did not know what the cost of the damage was to the fire tanker, but said that there is insurance on the truck.

Statesville (NC) Looks to Purchase New Fire Trucks

City council members are prepared to spend about $1.1 million over the next several months to purchase two new trucks for the Statesville Fire Department. Council discussed the need during a meeting Monday and decided to vote on March 6 to approve the budget amendment allocating the funds for the purchase of the first truck.
The Statesville Record & Landmark reported on the city's intent to purchase new fire apparatus for the local department.

If an upcoming vote proceeds, the first new fire truck is expected to be delivered by December. If purchased in May 2017, the second truck the city looks to buy would be delivered by February of next year.
The city;s commitment to buy two trucks reduced each vehicle’s price from $488,072 to $469,861. That price does not include loose equipment, such as hoses, hydraulic tools and hand tools, which Interim Fire Chief Gary Styers estimates will be an additional $120,000 per truck.

Detroit to Spend $18M on Firefighting Equipment in 2017

During his State of the City address, Mayor Mike Duggan said Detroit will spend an additional $18 million on firefighting equipment in 2017. Duggan cited the city's poor Insurance Service Office ranking of the Detroit Fire Department as a reason.
MLive reported on a pland to spend $18M on additional firefighting equipment for the city of Detroit this year.

The move is part of an effort to improve the city's ISO score. Mayor Duggan added that, in addition to the new gear, fire hydrants in the city will be inspected and fixed every four months going forward.

Detroit put 16 new fire engines into service between 2015 and 2016 for $8 million, and officials are expected to approve he purchase of six new ladder trucks and six new rescue squads.
