Southbridge (MA) voters approved a request to fund a $25.7 million Proposition 2 ½ debt exclusion to pay for the construction of a new fire station on Worchester Street, reports telegram.com.

The money will pay for construction of the new station, which will replace the existing 122-year-old station on Elm Street. This would increase property taxes by an estimated 6% to 8% to pay the debt service for design, site acquisition, and construction for the project.

The tax increase will remain in effect until the bonds are fully paid.

The new Billerica fire station in North Billerica (MA) is almost complete, with a tentative occupancy date of Oct. 14, 2021, reports wickedlocal.com.

Despite delays due to the weather and COVID-19 pandemic, the project is only one month off from its original timeline.

Contractors are currently working on the interior of the building and have started the electrical, plumbing, and more.

The vote to approve $10 million to update the Boston Road substation came during October 2019 and was almost unanimous. The first version of the station was constructed in 1954.

A groundbreaking for the station was held on Oct. 2, 2020.

The Trenton (MO) Fire Department will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. immediately followed by public tours of the training tower, located behind the fire station.

Attendees are asked to use the concrete driveway near Harris Avenue and 18th Street. Parking will be available east of the Quonset huts.

The Caulfield (MO) Fire Department recently received a $400,000 grant to build a new station, reports ky3.com.

The new digs will replace its current 30-year-old building, which houses only three trucks. In addition, it will also have a bigger area for meetings, public events, fundraising dinners, and similar occasions.

Officials say they hope to start construction by the end of the year.

“We have applied for two years for a grant to build our wonderful community a new fire station. This has been applied for through the community development block grant and we have been notified that WE HAVE IN FACT RECEIVED THIS FUNDING for the year 2021!” the department wrote on Facebook.

“This is a 100% grant meaning that we provide no money towards this. We however will provide some labor and other stuff to put our in kind part towards the grant.

“We were notified that we will be receiving $491,306.00 as a total grant award and $402,457.00 going towards the construction of the new station. The other funds will go towards the fees associated with this grant, the fees associated with the steps that have to be taken to insure that the new station can be built where our current station is now, and also the architect fees.”

Construction of the new Onset (MA) fire station is nearly complete, as officials are set to sign off on its substantial completion as early as this week, reports wareham.theweektoday.com. Once they sign off, the department can begin moving in.

The station, located at 8 Sand Pond Rd. behind the old Salvation Army, will then still need its utilities set up and equipment and furniture moved in, but soon thereafter the crew can begin operating from it.

Tentative plans call for a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony the first week of August. Original plans said April, but the COVID-19 pandemic threw a wrench into those plans.
