Loris (SC) Fire Department Receives Grant for Fire Equipment

The city of Loris Fire Department was awarded a $31,000 grant that will be used to purchase 10 sets of fire gear, reports myhorrynews.com.

The Volunteer Strategic Assistance and Fire Equipment grant will fund sets of interior structure fire rated jackets and pants.

The grant, through the South Carolina Fire Marshal Office, is a 100% non-match grant and will help meet standards set by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Tulsa (OK) Fire Department Christens Two New Trucks

The Tulsa (OK) Fire Department recently held a push-in ceremony for two new trucks at Stations 20 and 24, reports TulsaWorld.com.

Station 24’s new 107-foot ladder truck is replacing a 2002 model. The ladder truck that replaced its 21-year-old predecessor at Station 20 weighs 71,000 pounds. Fire officials said it’s $1.4 million apiece for the new ladder trucks.

Fire officials added that one of the old trucks being replaced will go to the department’s training center, while the other will be used as a backup.

East Orange (NJ) Fire Department Adds Rosenbauer Viper to Fleet

The East Orange (NJ) Fire Department recently added a Rosenbauer Viper to its fleet, reports tapinto.net.

The new truck boasts a 78-foot rear-mount aerial, N55 pump (1,500-gpm) and a 500-gallon water tank. It holds six firefighters in the cab of the custom rig, which is equipped with a Cummins L9 (450-hp) engine within in a Warrior Chassis.

Waukegan (IL) Officials Hold Dedication Ceremony for New ARFF Truck

The Waukegan (IL) Fire Department, Waukegan National Airport, Waukegan Port District and Waukegan Airport tenants recently held the dedication ceremony for a new Rosenbauer Panther Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Truck (ARFF), reports DailyHerald.com.

Fire and port district officials worked together for more than a year to design the truck’s specifications, which have it at over 12 feet tall, 10 feet wide and about 40 feet long. The truck, purchased by the Waukegan National Airport and tenants, is equipped with a 3,100-gallon water tank, 420 gallons of firefighting foam and 500 pounds of dry chemical extinguishing agent.

Marion (MA) Fire Department Receives $10K Grant

The Marion (MA) Fire Department was awarded a $10,000 grant for new gear, wickedlocal.com reports, one of nearly 300 fire departments across the state to receive a grant as part of the Department of Fire Services Fiscal Year 2021 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program.

The money will be used to purchase new leather firefighter boots and gloves for the department’s members.

The $4 million awarded to departments statewide is part of a $25 million bond bill filed by the Baker-Polito Administration to support firefighter health and safety over the next five years.
