Volunteers Led Initial Attack on Mineral Fire in Lewis County

Fire crews are still working to extinguish a 40-acre fire that broke out in the hills above Mineral Friday afternoon. The fire was 50 percent contained as of Monday afternoon, according to the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Volunteer firefighters with Mineral Fire and EMS were the first on the scene and took the lead in fighting the fire, with help from fire crews from Lewis County Fire District 4, of Morton, until DNR could mobilize and take over Friday night.

Woman Jumps From Chehalis River Bridge in Grays Harbor County

Hours after a man jumped off the Wishkah River Bridge in East Aberdeen, Aberdeen Police Department personnel were called to a similar incident on the Chehalis River Bridge that prompted a response from multiple agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard. “At approximately 11:22 p.m. (Tuesday), an Aberdeen Police officer observed a female jump off the Chehalis River Bridge,” said Aberdeen Police Cmdr.

Countywide burn ban extended as crews continue battling Burbank Fire in Yakima County

Extremely hot and dry conditions prompted fire officials to extend a burn ban in all unincorporated areas of Yakima County, the county fire marshal announced Monday. The ban was enacted June 24 and will remain in effect until Aug. 31, at which time conditions will be evaluated, said Yakima County Fire Marshal Chris Pedersen.

Clearlake (CA) Woman Arrested for Theft of Firefighting Equipment

The Clearlake Police Department has recovered some stolen fire equipment and made an arrest, reports Lake County News.

About a month ago, the Lake County Fire Protection District responded to a fire and then later reported approximately 4,000 feet of wildland fire hose along with fixtures, nozzles, connectors and other fire equipment had been stolen during the incident.

Since the theft, 1,100 feet of the hose and some of the connectors had been located. The arrested suspect has allegedly confessed to the theft.

Sacramento (CA) Fire Apparatus Hit at Highway Fire Scene

A fire truck was hit while responding to a vehicle fire along Interstate 80, reports CBS Sacramento.

All the fire personnel who were working at the scene escaped the crash without injury. The driver of the car that rear-ended the fire truck was taken to the hospital.
