Dedication Planned for North Conway’s (NH) New $6.7M Station

A dedication of the new $6.7 million North Conway (NH) station is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, reports conwaydailysun.com, with Gov. Chris Sununu and U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan, among others, expected to be in attendance.

The project began last July and has been completed on budget and ahead of schedule. The new station is located at 70 Norcross Cir. in North Conway Village.

Saturday’s agenda includes:

•  The National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance
•  Blessing by Pastor Sean Dunker-Bendigo.

An official will then give a history of the project, followed by the official dedication. Tours of the station will be available following the dedication, through 2 p.m.

The station has been designed to have a “dirty” holding area on one side of the structure, away from the office. The lower level has a small conference room and office for the chief as well as support spaces for accessing the vehicle bays. The station also has a hose tower on the northern end. Above the offices is a living area for firefighters, with a training/common room, bunk room, kitchen space, and an atrium over the rescue vehicle bay. Voters in 2020 approved a 20-year bond for the fire station by a vote of 45-3.

The old station stood since 1962.

Streetsboro (OH) Fire Department Moves into New Digs

The Streetsboro (OH) Fire Department officially moved into its new station, which is located just behind the old station at 9184 Route 43, reports record-courier.com. A grand opening is expected this summer.

The first floor features two emergency vehicle bays divided by alarm room and a staircase leading up to the second floor. Near the bays is the turnout gear room; it’s outfitted with special extractor to help clean gear and rid it of smoke and other carcinogens.

The second floor is essentially for sleeping, showering, and exercising. It was purposely designed that way to keep crews from constantly moving between the two floors.

The dining area doubles as a space for video training. On the other side of the kitchen are administration offices. Upstairs is a gym, two locker rooms, a laundry room, and 10 individual sleeping areas. An average shift of firefighters has at least six people, officials say.

In 2019 voters approved a 20-year, 0.8-mill levy to fund the $5.43 million project.
