8-year-old raises $1,000-plus for Wisconsin fire department

A lot of 8-year-olds create reams of artwork, which then goes on to hang on the refrigerator until it gets stale and ceases to be seen as art. Johnson Creek resident Bentley Schacht’s art, on the contrary, is hanging on people’s walls. His bold colors and designs stand out, as does his commitment to raise money for the Jefferson Fire Department.

'It will always be remembered': Deadly Brockton Strand Theatre fire in Massachusetts vivid 80 years later

VIDEO: The Strand Theatre, situated in Brockton's bustling downtown business district, was showing the film “Hoosier School Boy,” starring Mickey Rooney, followed by “Secret Evidence,” on Sunday, March 9, 1941. Spokane Fire responds to fire

VIDEO: Spokane Firefighters battled an early morning house fire Wednesday morning. Firefighters say the fire started at a vacant home near Indiana and Washington around 1:30 this morning. No one was hurt, but it’s not clear how the fire was started.

Yakima fire leaders renewing calls for city to replace aging fire truck fleet

Fire department leaders are calling on the city council to purchase replacements for their aging and often hamstrung truck fleet. Back in December, Action News asked Yakima Fire chiefs how badly they needed to get their trucks upgraded but today, the issues still remain. No plans have been made to start the process of ordering new trucks and now in March they're still using reserve rigs.
