Lexington City Council donating fire truck North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation

VIDEO: The Lexington Fire Department is saying goodbye to a reliable and trustworthy member of the team. For more than 60 years, firefighters knew their ladder truck would get them to the fire. Thousands of miles later, it’s time to retire the truck. Lexington Fire Chief Paul Jarrett is going over the retiring ladder truck for the last time.

Washington DNR hopes to add world’s largest firefighting plane to arsenal

The Washington Department of Natural Resources hopes to add the world’s largest firefighting aircraft to its arsenal. Wildfire season is an unfortunate reality in the northwest and Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz hopes the 747 Global Supertanker will assist in the annual firefight. The aircraft is the only one of its kind and can carry up to 19,000 gallons of water or fire retardant.

Man burned, 3 puppies rescued in Monroe brush fire

One person suffered minor burns and three puppies were rescued when a fire broke out in an encampment in Monroe Wednesday morning. The fire was reported just after 5 a.m. along a steep, brushy hillside in the 19900 block of Woods Creek Road, according to Heather Chadwick with Snohomish Fire District No.

Suamico Fire Department (WI) Being Rezoned for Business

Suamico Fire Department is repurposing a now vacant building and a conditional use permit (CUP) has been approved to allow a brewpub onsite, reports gopresstimes.com.

The site was used as a fire station for more than 60 years and the fire department is moving into the new fire station which has more than 20,000 square feet with two stories and six apparatus bays.

The existing building is approximately 5,520 square feet and has four drive-through vehicle bays.

School Selling Land to Washington Township (OH) for Fire Station

Centerville City Schools plans to sell about five or six acres of land to Washington Township for a new fire station, reports Dayton Daily News.

The plan is to build a new station to replace the fire department’s oldest station, which is more than 50 years old. The township would buy the land for $42,000 an acre, according to the purchase agreement.

The next step will be to have the land surveyed.
