According to a report from
The Springville Journal, the Springville (NY) Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) honored its longtime truck captain, Dennis Cobo, with a ride in the its new Engine 1, which replaces the department's old engine of the same name.
The SVFD wanted to honor Cobo, who was the truck captain on the old Engine 1 for more than 30 years, by giving him a ride in the new truck around the village, with SVFD members praising Cobo for everything he has done for the department during his many years of service.
A 42-year SVFD member, Cobo joined the department on September 1, 1978. In addition to his duties as truck captain, he has served in numerous other positions throughout his career, such as helping build the new Franklin Street station, serving on truck committees, and other influential aspects of the department.
As the department moves forward with the new Engine 1, SVFD Chief Marc Gentner said the new truck will be a big help to the department, praising the Village of Springville for its efforts in securing the new truck.
