1941 Brockton (MA) Fire Apparatus Returns Home

A fire truck that responded to Brockton’s 1941 Strand Theater tragedy has returned home, reports WCVB 5.

During that incident at the Strand Theater, the structure partially collapsed and killed 13 firefighters inside.

In the years that followed, the fire truck was sold many times over and eventually was in the possession of Billerica firefighter Dave Feyler. Feyler saw a photo and realized the truck had been at the Strand Theater fire. He then started the work of bringing the truck home.

Just feet from where the theater once stood, the Squad A truck joined Wednesday’s ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the tragedy.

Brownsville (MN) Has Options for Fire Apparatus Purchase

Brownsville Fire Department is working with the city council to explore buying a fire truck, reports The Caledonia Argus.

COVID-19 has also accelerated how quickly used fire trucks are being picked up by other fire departments, which is a consideration.

Fire officials have asked whether the department could put half of the cost down and finance the rest, as interest rates were extremely low. Plus, there would be more money left in the capital account for other upgrades.

he council approved a motion to allow the fire department to put $10,000 down once they found the desired fire truck. After the council was contacted about the potential purchase, then they have up to $45,000 to spend on the truck.
