Members of the Newport Beach City Council broke ground for a new fire station, reports The Los Angeles Times.
The new fire station will replace a station that was built in 1953. In 2014, officials had determined that the fire station would need replaced.
The city purchased a 17,693-square-foot property in which they’ll build the new fire station.
A construction company is on board for the project, which is budgeted for $10 million.
