King County risks a rollback as new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations rise

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee made a public push for people to get vaccinated Thursday, as a "fourth wave" of the coronavirus has hit the state potentially sending more counties on a phase rollback, including King County. The announcement comes as metrics show that case rates and hospitalizations continue to trend upward.

Semi-Truck Crashes Into School Bus in Wapato

On Thursday afternoon a semi-truck crashed into a school bus sending three people to the hospital. It happened on the corner of Lateral C Road and Progressive Road in Wapato shortly after 3:00 p.m. The bus driver was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries. Two kids on the bus were also taken to the hospital, but their injuries appear to minor.

Monroe (LA) Donates Fire Apparatus

The Monroe Fire Department announced the donation of two fire engines to two fire departments in Northeast Louisiana, reports myarklamiss.com.

The custom-built 1999 pumper trucks will be donated to the Beekman Volunteer Fire Department and the Winnsboro Fire Department.

The Monroe Fire Department purchased these engines over 22 years ago from Ferrara Fire Apparatus.

Taylor Canyon (CO) Fire Station Considered

Fire danger and rising insurance premiums are influencing homeowners to build a new fire station in Taylor Canyon, reports Gunnison County Times.

The building would be a substation of the Gunnison Fire Protection District (GFPD). The station would be a short distance away from the Jacks’ Cabin.

Smithfield (RI) Approves Fire Station’s Conceptual Plans

Town planners approved conceptual plans for the new proposed fire station, reports The Valley Breeze.

The proposed two-story building will feature a three-bay station. Two of the three bays will be pull-through, while the third will be back-in with space for utilities in the back.

Designs include 27 parking spaces, four fewer than the required 31 spaces, and the project will need a variance for spots. The parking lot will need special permission due to not being in the rear of the building.
