Construction, agricultural, and other outdoor workers braved the grey smog that choked most of Washington state last month. It was so bad, that its prompted Washington’s Labor and Industries division to craft rules that protect workers from wildfire smoke. This week, L&I filed the official notification, known as CR-101, the first step in the rulemaking process.

The Seattle Fire Department responded to the Chinatown-International District in Seattle Thursday after a car crashed into a commercial building.
The car crashed into Dim Sum King restaurant at the intersection of S Jackson Street and Maynard Avenue S just after 2 p.m.
Four people were taken to the hospital for evaluation, but none had serious injuries, according to David Cuerpo, public information officer for the Seattle Fire Department.

Idaho is seeing its largest coronavirus spike since the pandemic began, with new cases increasing by 46.5% over the past two weeks.
Some health care experts are urging the state’s governor to take additional action to slow the spread of the virus.
Dr. Bart Hill, a vice president with St. Luke’s Regional Health System, says Idaho’s current approach hasn’t worked to change the pandemic’s trajectory.

Clark County Dive Rescue Team (CCDRT) is joining Clark County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (CCSOSAR). In recent weeks, both organizations’ boards have been working together to finalize the transition. Under this new arrangement, CCDRT will become the dive team for CCSOSAR.
“This will give our team access to a vast and diverse knowledge base,” said Chastity Stern, operations manager for CCDRT.

It was Tuesday, October 21, 1980, and Phillies fans, including New Castle County volunteer firefighters, were anticipating the start of what would be a Game 6 World Series clinching victory.
But everything changed around 6:30 p.m. when a massive explosion rocked the Amoco plant off of River Road in New Castle south of Dobbinsville, blowing out windows, and shaking houses and residents for miles around.
