Three residents of a home that caught fire north of Millwood early Monday escaped without injury. Spokane County Fire District 9 received reports of the fire at 8404 E. Woodland Park Drive, southwest of Argonne and Bigelow Gulch roads, at about 2:50 a.m. Monday . When crews arrived , the fire had climbed up the backside of the home and into the attic, said Jim Walkowski, assistant fire chief.

The Wenatchee Fire Department labeled Saturday’s Travelodge fire to be undetermined but noted that the outdoor area which caught fire is frequented by smokers. The burned area outside of the hotel was next to a “fence” of Arborvitae, all of which can easily catch fire, Chelan County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Kay McKellar said.

VIDEO: Substantial numbers of people have been violating closures around the state’s largest wildfire, the Lionshead, which prompted fire officials to remind people on Sunday that it is dangerous to enter the area and they could be fined up to $5,000 and sentenced to up to six months in jail.
