VIDEO: One Spokane manufactured home owner is crediting smoke alarms for alerting her to a fire that broke out in her home.
According to a release from the Spokane Fire Department (SFD), the smoke alarms, which were installed by SFD's Smoke Alarm Install Program, allowed the woman and her two great grandchildren to safely evacuate.

Firefighters have completely contained three fires in Okanogan County that forced evacuations.
The Anglin Fire near Tonasket started on July 27 and was 100% contained on August 1. Two outbuildings were destroyed and one home was damaged. It burned nearly 2,000 acres. The fire forced evacuations, which have since been lifted.

A stubborn wildfire at Lake Crescent may take longer to extinguish than previously expected, a spokesman for the team managing firefighting efforts said Saturday.
The East Beach Road Fire, believed to be human-caused, stood at 65 acres on a steep slope above East Beach Road on the north side of the lake in Olympic National Park land.

Flags will be lowered on August 3 to honor a Spokane firefighter who recently passed away.
Ed Foster suffered a cardiac event one day after retiring from the Spokane Fire Department. Cardiac incidents are a leading cause of death for firefighters and in light of the circumstances involved in his passing, Foster’s death is considered Line-of-Duty.

Two people and their pets escaped via second-floor balconies as a fast-moving fire destroyed their adjoining duplexes Friday morning.
The fire was reported at 9:16 a.m. at 3609, 3611, 3615 and 3619 Olive St., in Vancouver’s Lincoln neighborhood.
Jason Underhill, 22, was getting ready for work when he smelled smoke.
