Spokane Fire Department responds to electrical incident at Northtown Mall

Crews with the Spokane Fire Department responded to the Northtown Mall Saturday afternoon for an electrical incident. According to the Fire Department, crews responded to a call about a possible fire at the mall just before 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, after staff reported smoke in the basement.

Man dies after mobile home fire west of Snohomish

A man in his 90s died after a mobile home fire west of Snohomish Friday evening, according to Snohomish County Fire District 4. Crews arrived at the scene around 5:30 p.m. to find the home in the 7800 block of 82nd Avenue SE fully engulfed in flames. The man, who appeared to live there by himself, was found on the ground outside with burns.

But don’t be alarmed — it may be part of a police and fire department event called Friday Night Lights. It’s hard to be a firefighter in the midst of the pandemic — you can’t socially distance while fighting fires or helping people after a car crash.

North Carolina Hazmat one of few crews in state using new techniques to decontaminate gear

VIDEO: Durham Fire-Rescue Hazardous Materials Team is leading the way in using new and existing equipment to decontaminate surfaces that may have been exposed to COVID-19. Firefighters suit up in Tyvek hazmat gear to spray all surfaces with chlorine dioxide. "Chlorine dioxide has been shown in multiple studies and by multiple federal agencies to kill the COVID-19 virus," said Ryan Campbell with the Durham Fire Department.
