Duvall firefighter dresses like a flamingo to spread joy during coronavirus panic

VIDEO: In Duvall, one man is making it his business to stop the spread of panic during the coronavirus pandemic by putting a smile on as many faces as possible. “What’s a grown man doing in a costume, pink flamingo inflatable costume on the side of the road?” said Greg Garat, as he stood on Main Street in Duvall in a flamingo costume holding a sign that describes what he's offering: free smiles.

Follow-up: Man who set Beacon Cleaners ablaze in Spokane twice within a month sentenced to 1 year, $500k restitution

The man who set the South Hill’s Beacon Cleaners ablaze twice within a month in 2017 was sentenced Wednesday to one year in jail and ordered to pay more than $530,000 in restitution. Scott M. Lenway, 44, pleaded guilty to first-degree arson and two counts of second-degree arson in November, according to court documents.

Ohio fire department splits staff to fend off coronavirus

Knowing that firefighters have to protect themselves to help others, Worthington officials worried about having their 36 full-time staff working together in its single fire station. “We were hearing about these other stations being forced to shut down elsewhere. That would decimate our fire and EMS protection if we had to close our firehouse,” said Mark Zambito, assistant fire chief.
