Eastern Kentucky first responders grieving death of two colleagues on the same day

First responders in Elliott County are mourning two of their own. In a Facebook Post late Tuesday night Elliott County, Kentucky EMS posted that an EMT and a firefighter both lost their lives on the same day. “It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the sudden and untimely passing of one of our EMTs, Drake Adams.

Wenatchee Valley Fire Department Proposing Change to Property Taxes

The Wenatchee Valley Fire Department is holding a public meeting this afternoon to discuss a proposed change to the fire tax paid by homeowners and businesses. The fire levy across the board would be reduced from $1.50 to $1.00 per $1,000 of assessed property value, but a “fire benefit charge” would be added.

Seattle EMTs administer new drug to curb opioid addiction in pilot program

Each year, hundreds of people die of an overdose in Seattle. Now, the city is taking a step forward in trying to combat the crisis. Under a new program, Seattle Fire paramedics will be allowed to administer a new medication that helps people suffering from withdrawal. Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell says the drug is known to cut the risk of death by half.

Investigator: Destructive Spokane garage fire caused by illegal camping

A fire that destroyed a garage attached to an apartment and displaced two families in north Spokane late Monday morning was caused by illegal campers, according to investigators. While crews with the Spokane Fire Department got a handle on the fire within about 10 minutes, the flames still caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, including direct damage to one unit and smoke damage to another.

VIDEO: Massive Fire Breaks Out at Equipment Manufacturer in New York

Fire crews from across Steuben County are on the scene of a major fire in the village of Bath. Officials say the fire was under control as of 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. Emergency calls began coming in around 9PM Monday, for a fire at 36 Delaware Avenue, locally known as the former Babcock Ladder Company. The building is currently operated by Clark Specialty, an equipment manufacturer.
