Fire at Southwest Florida International Airport destroys over 3,500 rental cars, port authority says

VIDEO: A fire that spread across 15 acres destroyed more than 3,500 rental cars at the rental car overflow area of Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) on Friday, Lee County Port Authority said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. It drew a response from every Lee County fire department with assistance from aviation and fire departments in neighboring Collier and Charlotte counties.

Spokane Fire Department hosting Facebook story times

The Spokane Fire Department is starting a new story time series on Facebook for kids stuck at home, and their first reader was Spokane Fire Chief Brain Schaeffer. Schaeffer read Poinsettia and the Firefighters by Felicia Bond, who authored the popular book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. “I’m going to take this opportunity to spend some time with our kids that are at home, spending many, many, many, days at home,” said Schaeffer to begin the Facebook video.

One Acre Fire on Shady Pass Near 25-Mile Creek State Park Saturday

Chelan Fire and Rescue crews responded to a brush fire off Shady Pass Road above 25 Mile Creek State Park Saturday a little before noon. Assistant Fire Chief Brandon Asher says it was one mile up the slope. “It was being pushed by erratic winds. Fire damages home on Golf Course Road in Port Angeles

A fire on Golf Course Road caused major damage to two rooms of a house but did not injure any of the occupants. Firefighter suffers burned hand battling 2-alarm blaze in Kent

A firefighter suffered a burned hand Thursday evening as he fought a fire in Kent that burned two structures and left a house cat dead and a family of five displaced. Crews from Puget Sound Fire were called to a house on fire in the 15000 block of SE 274th Place in Kent just after 5:45 p.m., according to department spokesperson Joe Root.
