		It took 45 minutes for firefighters to get a 35-year-old man out of a “heavily damaged” car following a car crash on Saturday, officials said. The man’s injuries were extensive, with low blood pressure, shock and internal bleeding.
Quickly, firefighters and paramedics decided to try a new lifesaving method starting at the crash site: whole blood transfusion.

		VIDEO: Seattle firefighters are hoping the launch of new rescue equipment will turn back a troubling rise in water deaths.
King County has seen elevated drowning numbers over the past four years, with the number of deaths increasing more than 60% since 2018. Now, Seattle firefighters respond to about 70 water rescues a year, according to recent data from the Seattle Fire Department.

		PHOTOS: The Hillman fire in Yakima's West Valley was contained overnight after destroying two homes and a shop on Monday.
The fire started around 3:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of Hillman Road. It charred about 150 acres, along with structures and numerous power poles and transformers, according to the West Valley Fire Department.

		Three firefighters were injured after two giant store signs came crashing down at the scene of a fire in Washington Heights.
Flames broke out at 1281 St Nicholas Ave. near 174th Street just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The firefighters had just finished putting out a fire that swept through the stores - a snack shop and a beauty salon.

		VIDEO: The Salt Lake City Fire Department has taken possession of a new state-of-the-art airport rescue vehicle now stationed at Salt Lake City International Airport’s Fire Station 12.
The new bright yellow-green vehicle is a brand new 2023 Rosenbauer Panther apparatus or ARFF (Airport Rescue Firefighting Rig) as the firefighters at the station call it.
