Spokane Valley Fire Department and Spokane County Fire District 8 respond to a residential structure fire on the 11200 block of East 33rd Avenue Tuesday night. According to SVFD, residents of the home called 911 when they saw fire on the upper floor of their home. SVFD Engine 9 could see smoke and fire coming from a window on the back side of the home as they approached the residence.

Someone called 911 early Tuesday morning to report seeing large clouds of smoke in North Spokane.
Firefighters with Spokane County Fire District 4 and District 9 found a vacant single-story home at 3303 West Eagles Nest Lane fully engulfed in flames around 5:30 a.m.
A large response was called in to help battle the flames.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to a commercial fire at the Spokane Industrial Park Monday evening after a Powdertech employee smelled smoke inside a building.
Firefighters saw smoke coming off the roof of the building on North Sullivan Road when they arrived shortly after 7 p.m., bringing a total of 13 fire vehicles and support from Spokane County Fire District 9, according to a news release.

The city of Battle Ground and Clark County Fire District 3 have passed motions to place annexation on the Feb. 11, 2020, special election ballot. The proposal would allow the city to annex to the fire district, and must be approved by voters in both jurisdictions to take effect.
City Manager Erin Erdman and Fire Chief Scott Sorenson are looking for opportunities to speak to community service organizations about the proposal.

It was the beginning of a hero’s sendoff.
Worcester fire officials promised Tina Menard and her three children a hero’s sendoff for Lt. Jason Menard. It’s a promise no fire department wants to fulfill, and one Worcester firefighters have had to deliver eight other times in the last 20 years. Firefighters, police officers and paramedics from across Massachusetts lined up outside Mercadante Funeral Home in Worcester on Sunday afternoon, paying their respects to Menard, who was killed in a four-alarm fire early Wednesday morning at 7 Stockholm St.
