Controlled burn destroys garage, two cars at Finley home

Firefighters worked to put out a fire on Sunday afternoon after a controlled burn got out of control. Around 1:30 p.m., Benton County Fire District #1 responded to a home near Havana Street and E 45 Pr SE. When they arrived, a two-car garage was engulfed in flames. Crews worked to extinguish the fire as it started to spread to other areas on the homeowner's property.

Veteran Okanogan County firefighter's body returned home

VIDEO: A hero was escorted home on Saturday. Okanogan County Assistant Fire Chief Christian Johnson died from injuries he sustained while fighting the Spring Coulee Fire this summer. On Saturday, a procession spanned from Bothell to Okanogan. Johnson served with the Okanogan Fire Department for 20 years.

Blue Flame Asian Bistro In East Wenatchee Temporarily Closed After Fire

A Friday night fire at the Blue Flame Asian Bistro has temporarily closed their East Wenatchee location for restoration. Douglas County Fire District 2 and Chelan County District 1 crews responded just before 11:00 p.m. to the restaurant on Valley Mall Park for a fire in the kitchen area. Fire Marshal Kurt Blanchard says the fire was first reported by employees of Blue Spoon Frozen Yogurt.

Winlock, Vader, Lewis County Get $2.25M in Community Development Block Grants

Winlock, Vader and Lewis County governments were awarded grants of $750,000 each through the Community Development Block Grant program for infrastructure improvement projects, the state Department of Commerce announced this week. CDBG grants are funded by the federal office of Housing and Urban Development and administered through the state Department of Commerce.

Wildfire has swept into northern Los Angeles; Tens of thousands are under a mandatory evacuation order

About 23,000 homes -- involving roughly 100,000 people -- have been told to evacuate in the northern Los Angeles area because of the Saddleridge Fire, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said Friday. At least 25 homes, many in the Porter Ranch area, have been damaged, Los Angeles Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas said.
