Bellingham house fire ‘got into the attic space, and we had to chase it a little’

Quick work by Bellingham Fire Department crews to knock down a residential fire Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 28, in the Alabama Hill neighborhood prevented it from spreading to a nearby house or two cars parked in the driveway. Firefighters responded at 3:30 p.m. to the 2800 block of Erie Street, Captain Dave Pethick told The Bellingham Herald, and arrived to find the garage in flames.

Seattle crews battle fire at office building at Boeing Field

A fire at an office building at Boeing Field was quickly put out by firefighters Thursday evening. The fire started in an office building on East Marginal Way at 16th Ave. South. The building was evacuated and no one was hurt, according to Seattle Fire. The area was not one of Boeing's airplane production facilities and production was not affected by the fire, a spokesperson for Boeing said.

Police trying to ID man's body found at Renton brush fire; death considered possible homicide

Authorities say the death of a man whose body was found at a Renton brush fire is now considered a possible homicide. The man's body was found Tuesday when firefighters responded to a fire at a homeless camp near Oakesdale Avenue SW. His death was initially believed to be accidental, but police said Thursday that investigators discovered several wounds that were not related to the fire.

Flint (MI) Purchases Two New Fire Trucks

Flint City Council unanimously approved the purchase of two new fire trucks. The Community Development Block Grant had $1.2 million left over in funding, reports ABC 12.

For citizens, the most noticeable changes are a louder siren and a switch to LED lights, which are much brighter.

For firefighters, the pumps will work easier, and there are now portable electrical fans to help clear smoke from inside the buildings. Before, they'd have to keep them outside because of the high pressure and toxic fumes.
