A fire destroyed a chicken coop at a Ridgefield home Monday morning, according to Clark County Fire and Rescue.
Firefighters were dispatched at 10:31 a.m. to 802 S. Shobert St., for a report of a shop or barn fire.
The first engine to arrive reported a 10-by-10 foot outbuilding, with flames extending from the structure and threatening a home about 15 feet away, according to the scanner.

A wild series of events — involving a semi-truck carrying shrimp and cheesecake catching fire, followed by a fleeing SUV crashing into multiple vehicles including first responders — has led to serious traffic issues on northbound I-5 near Lakewood & Joint Base Lewis McChord Monday morning.
According to Washington State Patrol, multiple crews were on scene of a semi-truck fire early Monday morning, including WSP, firefighters and Washington State Department of Transportation members.

San Juan County Public Hospital District No. 1 Board of Commissioners voted to sign an Interlocal Agreement as the first official step toward the merger of fire and emergency medical services on San Juan Island.
“This document is not perfect, it’s gone through … seven iterations or whatever — well that’s the nature of the beast,” Hospital District Chairperson Michael Edwards said.

VIDEO: The Fairbanks International Airport Police and Fire Department is unique in that their employees are 'cross trained' -- meaning every police officer is a firefighter, and every firefighter is a police officer.
"We are both a police and fire department, along as EMS as well. So we are a true public safety, kind of all hazards approach,” Chief Aaron Danielson said.

The City of Cleveland Fire Department has been charged with discrimination by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after an investigation uncovered evidence that it discriminated against black, Hispanic and female applicants, violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The U.S. EEOC determined that since at least 2009, the Cleveland Fire Department has displayed a pattern of failing or refusing to hire and promote black, Hispanic and female applicants through the use of discriminatory hiring tests and procedures.
