The Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department is starting a program to recruit more paramedics amid a national shortage.
KCKFD Assistant Fire Chief Morris Letcher told 41 Action News the department is short about 20 paramedics right now.
"Firefighting is more than just firefighing," Letcher said. "We're an EMS-based service, so we have to keep up with the times.

VIDEO: A woman hit by an out-of-control dump truck remains hospitalized at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center. Three men were also treated for injuries, but have since been discharged from Harborview.
A dump truck lost control Monday morning and struck a pedestrian and several vehicles before crashing into a Subway restaurant around 9:40 a.

Clark County Fire & Rescue (CCFR) responded to a report of trees and brush on fire in the 2500 block of NE 179th Street at 1:33 p.m. today (Tue., Aug. 20). Initial arriving crews found a fire of approximately one acre in size burning in trees, brush and grass. No structures were threatened by this fire.

Sticky Budz marijuana business caught on fire in July which injured an employee and now the business is speaking on the incident.
Sticky Budz says static electricity caused an explosion which occured in the extraction lab.
This happened at MLM Distributing.
MLM sent a press release on the incident Tuesday which stated the following:
On Tuesday, July 31st, 2019 static electricity caused an explosion and subsequent fire in the extraction lab at MLM Distributing in Zillah, Washington.
