New Parkersburg (WV) Fire Station

The Parkersburg Fire Department celebrated the grand opening of the new and improved Fire Station No. 2 on the corner of 16th and Covert streets Monday afternoon.

The original Fire Station No. 2 was built in 1931 and suffered a variety of structural issues. It was demolished and ground was broken for the new facility in September.

The process of rebuilding Fire Station No. 2 has been nearly three years in the making, according to Matthews. From designing floor plans to securing the contractual bid through Grae-Con Construction in Marietta and wrapping up the process in late May of this year, it has been a vital process for maximizing modern-day emergency response, officials said.

Palo Alto (CA) Fire Station Completion Slowed by Subcontractor Financial Issues

The subcontractor that went bankrupt, delaying the completion of Palo Alto’s Rinconada Park fire station, was overwhelmed with outstanding credit card and equipment debts, according to a court document.

The company had $2,363,485 in unpaid liabilities, according to the filing from company president Alberto Mendez.

The company has $386,850 in outstanding claims to Ford and Lincoln for seven recent vehicle purchases including $70,000 on a 2019 Lincoln Navigator and $80,000 on a 2018 Ford F150 Raptor. The company has a total of 79 creditors including seven involving recent vehicle purchases.

Two Injured After Vehicle Crashes into Baton Rouge (LA) Fire Apparatus

Police say a fire truck was responding to a call when it was hit by a passenger vehicle Tuesday night.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, a fire engine from the Baton Rouge Fire Department was responding to a call with lights and sirens activated. The fire truck was reportedly traveling northbound on Acadian when it was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Fairfields Ave.

Two people were transported from the scene with minor injuries. None of the patients were from the fire department, police say.

Munfordville (KY) Fire Apparatus Flipped in Accident

A tractor-trailer truck rear ended a Munfordville Fire Department truck late Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 65.

The fire truck had both its lights and siren on and was responding to a non-injury collision at mile marker 65 in the south bound lane when the semi struck the fire truck causing both vehicles to flip over and completely off of the road, according to Kentucky State Police who were called to respond at 4:14 p.m.

Two firefighters were injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment. The semi driver was not injured.

Townville (SC) Fire Apparatus Damaged Avoiding Man

On Tuesday, firefighters with the Townville Volunteer Fire Department were responding to a crash along I-85 when one of their fire trucks was involved in an accident. 

According to the fire chief, around 4:49 p.m. multiple first responder crews were dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash along I-85 at the Seneca River bridge at near the 12 mile marker. 

Firefighters say following the crash, a driver of one of the vehicles got out of his car and leaped into the river below failing to resurface. 

The fire department said as units were arriving on scene, the man emerged from the water between the bridges spanning the interstate and ran into oncoming traffic towards Rescue 17 as it was arriving on scene in an apparent suicide attempt.
