Firefighters investigate suspicious warehouse fire in Toppenish

Toppenish Fire officials are looking into a suspicious warehouse fire near US-97 and State Route 22. Around 10 a.m. Sunday, firefighters were called out to the warehouse fire. The building was vacant for 25 years, until recently. A semi-truck and car were inside the two-story building. While firefighters put out the fire, the roof collapsed.

Whatcom County forecasters, firefighters: ‘If you fall in that water, it’s a pretty good shock and you could drown’

With another sunny weekend expected, weather forecasters and firefighters warn residents to take care around water in Washington, which has drowning rates among the highest in the U.S. Despite the warm weather, many lakes and rivers remain deceptively cold, National Weather Service meteorologists said, and several water-related incidents have been reported recently in Whatcom County — including stranded boaters, a toddler who fell into a pond and a boater who nearly died when his sailboat flipped on Lake Whatcom.

Man trapped in ditch by mini excavator in Spokane suffers broken arm

Firefighters rescued a man after he was pinned in a ditch by a mini excavator he was operating in the backyard of a South Hill house on Saturday. The man, who has not been identified, was digging a 4-feet deep ditch for a new sewer system at about 2:30 p.m. at 1416 W. 7th Ave., according to Spokane Fire Department Battalion Chief Darin Neiwert.

Chehalis Fire Department Faces Increased Costs for Room and Board

The Chehalis City Council will consider Monday an update to the interlocal agreement between the city and Lewis County Fire District 6 accounting for the now indefinite housing of the Chehalis Fire Department by Fire District 6 at its facility on Jackson Highway. Chehalis firefighters evacuated their building at 455 NW Park St.
