Fire damages Pullman's Cougar Laser Arena

A fire early Sunday morning caused extensive damage to the inside of Cougar Laser Arena in Pullman. According to the Pullman Fire Department, firefighters were called to the building, located at 1234 South Grand Ave., around 2:00 a.m. for reports of smoke. Crews arrived and found smoke and flames coming from the building.

Maple Valley home heavily damaged in fire

PHOTO: Firefighters are investigating after a Maple Valley home was heavily damaged in a fire early Saturday morning. The home is located in the 25300 block of 236 Court Southeast. Firefighters arrived at 1:30 a.m. to find the entire second story of the house burning and the roof already collapsing.

Fall City Fire plans for progress despite opposition to merger

While the proposed merger of Fall City Fire into Eastside Fire and Rescue has failed, the fire district is working to make improvements on their own. Proposition 1 would have merged Fire District 27, covering Fall City, into the much larger Fire District 10 which is operated by Eastside Fire and Rescue.

Fire destroys house, six cars in Chelan

PHOTO: Fire destroyed a house in the Sunnybanks neighborhood of Chelan early Saturday morning. The blaze was reported at 3:41 a.m. in the 4000 block of Sunnybank Drive and drew the response of 25 personnel and seven apparatus, mostly from Chelan County Fire District No. 7. District No. 7 Chief Tim Lemon said the residence was fully involved when firefighters arrived on scene and also destroyed six vehicles and an attached carport.

South Whidbey volunteer firefighters, EMTs honored at awards banquet

South Whidbey Fire/EMS honored volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians during an awards dinner at Useless Bay Golf and Country Club. Volunteers and staff responded to 2,697 calls during 2018, breaking records set for all previous years of emergency service. The evening opened with a performance of patriotic songs by the South Whidbey High School choral group.
