Pullman Firefighter Mark Johnson said he helped other firefighters clean up and aid affected locations. He said the flood came down from the north of Missouri Flat Creek because of the flash floods and rain all day Tuesday.

Camas-Washougal Fire Department forms in-house training program

When he found out earlier this year that the state Fire Training Academy would not be available to the department’s five recruits, Camas-Washougal Fire Battalion Chief Kevin Villines scrambled. Biloxi (MS) Fire Boat Proves Worth

The fire boat works on many different projects, including putting out boat fires. The boat even did some special operations work during President Donald Trump’s visit to Biloxi last November.

"During a boat fire that we had about three weeks ago, it was able to supply enough water to actually put the boat out,” said Capt. Otto Vuyovich. “During the presidential visitation, we were able to turn the heat on and stay out of the weather. We were basically the last resort if an emergency came up.”

When emergencies do come up, the Serena G. has a climate-controlled cabin and two state-of-the-art water nozzles.

Skowhegan (ME) Fire Department Receives Grant for Fire Equipment

Firefighter Matthew Quinn, who spearheaded the funding effort, said Brookfield Renewable Energy has offered a grant of $7,808 for five units to go into the department’s Engine 10.

“They go in the cab of the fire engine and you can talk to dispatch over the radio, and at the same time you can have an intercom back and forth where you can talk two-way, like we’re having a conversation right now,” Quinn said. “You can push a button and you don’t need your hands, and it’s so loud in those cab that you can’t hear each other. Then you add the siren and the sound of the motor; it gets very loud in there.”
