A March 2 grand opening ceremony is planned for Katy Fire Department Station No. 2 at 25420 Bell Patna Drive, Katy. The ceremony is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Fire Chief Russell Wilson said he will welcome visitors and guests and introduce participants.

A Knoxville Fire Department fire truck was stranded by floodwaters in Fountain City on Saturday morning. According to KFD their engine 11 fell victim to floodwaters while responding to a trapped motorist on Knox Road. KFD is reminding people to "turn around don't drown while approaching high water on the roadway".

A passing pickup crashed into the rear of an Ankeny fire truck Sunday morning on Interstate 35, officials said. The incident occurred after the Ankeny and Elkhart fire departments were called around 8:30 a.m. to the 100 mile marker of the interstate for a crash involving three vehicles.

The fire truck that has been first on the scene for the past 20 years in Rockingham has been abruptly retired, the victim of rust. Denis Jeffrey, chief of the Rockingham Volunteer Fire Department, said Monday that the 1998 fire truck had been abruptly taken out of service on Friday after a town highway mechanic found that the frame of the firetruck was so rusted it was dangerous.
