Burning Tow Truck Crashes Into University City (CA) Fire Apparatus

A tow truck caught fire and rolled backward until it crashed into a fire truck in University City. Video taken from a nearby high-rise building on La Jolla Village Drive showed flames shooting from the tow truck. Then the truck slowly rolled backward into a fire truck that was positioned to block traffic.

The crash happened around 11:20 a.m. The engine suffered only cosmetic damage, San Diego Fire-Rescue's Mónica Munoz confirmed. No one was injured.

Columbia (SC) Fire Apparatus Hit by 18-Wheeler

Four firefighters were on board a Columbia fire truck when it was hit by a tractor-trailer while responding to another crash on Interstate 20, according to officials.

The crash happened Wednesday morning in the westbound lanes of I-20 near Two Notch Road, according to the Columbia Fire Department.  

Four fire fighters on a ladder truck were arriving at a crash in the left lane of I-20, according to Mike DeSumma, Columbia Fire Department spokesman. The ladder truck driver was slowing down and maneuvering the truck to protect the crash scene when a tractor-trailer came through and clipped the side of the fire truck.

1 injured, pet killed as van explodes in Puyallup-area parking lot

One person was taken to the hospital and their pet was killed when a van exploded and burst into flames at a parking lot south of Puyallup, fire officials said. Firefighters and medics responded to the scene, the Home Depot parking lot near South Hill Mall, at around 2 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of an explosion and fire, said Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.

Fire Damages Centralia Home

An early Wednesday morning fire damaged a Centralia home, while its residents awoke to find their porch burning. Total damage caused by the fire in the 100 block of Otto Road was estimated to cost $10,000. No injuries were reported. Grant County Fire District 3 deputy chief, wife recognized by Red Cross for response to bus crash

Two locals who played a major role assisting with the University of Washington bus crash were recognized by the Red Cross. Grant County Fire District 3 Deputy Chief of Operations Tony Leibelt and his wife Carol Leibelt were nominated for the 2019 Red Cross Hometown Heroes Award. Chief Leibelt and Carol were nominated by Quincy School District Superintendent John Boyd.
