Spokane Valley firefighters rescue driver and dog from car suspended in trees

On Sunday, Spokane Fire District 8 tweeted about an unusual extrication that took place on Saturday near Mica, just south of Spokane Valley. A car rolled off Highway 27 and became suspended in some trees. Firefighters successfully removed both the driver and the driver's dog from the vehicle The patient was transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.

Fire scorches, damages Kent home; no one is hurt

Firefighters from the Puget Sound and Renton regional fire authorities responded to and exinguished a house fire in the 11400 block of Southeast 217 Street on Saturday night. Neighbors first reported the fire around 9 p.m., which started in the covered walkway of the two-story house. The fire heavily damaged the front of the home, melting the siding and breaking out two windows.

Longview council honors firefighters', citizens' heroic act

The Longview City Council Thursday honored two off-duty firefighters and two citizens who saved the life of a Longview man after he had a heart attack while fishing. Later in the meeting, the council then voted to accept a grant that will help pay for three additional firefighters. Chris Wills, who is married to Longview Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Wills, was fishing on the Columbia River in the early morning on Aug.

Fire at rural Clark County home being investigated as crime

A Monday morning fire at an abandoned home in rural Clark County is being investigated as a crime. According to Deputy Clark County Fire Marshal Caleb Barnes, the fire in the area of Northeast 72nd Avenue and JR Anderson Road appears to have been started intentionally.
