FCC announces investigation into CenturyLink failure that led to massive 911 outage

As a critical network outage by CenturyLink lingered into a second day, still leaving several cities across Western Washington without reliable 911 service, the chairman of the FCC has announced a federal investigation. “When an emergency strikes, it’s critical that Americans are able to use 911 to reach those who can help," FCC Chairman Ajit Pai announced Friday.

As people tear down holiday decor, Yakima firefighters preparing for more accidental falls

People are now starting to take down their inflatable Santas, Christmas lights, and other holiday decorations and are starting to say hello to the new year. Yakima City Manager Cliff Moore says he's heard horror stories of people falling and urges you to make sure you to pick a day were it's not icy out and arrange to have someone helping you so that you aren't at risk of getting hurt.

Fire crews respond to manufactured home fire in Spokane Valley

Multiple area Fire Departments responded to a structure fire in Spokane Valley on Wednesday evening. Eleven units from Spokane Valley Fire and one from Spokane County Fire District 8 responded to the fire that was reported just after 7:30 p.m. on the 18600 block of E. Courtland Ave. It was initially reported that two people were trapped in a bedroom and the manufactured home was fully involved in fire.

Arsonist sets 2 Molotov Cocktail-type devices afire against Poulsbo bank

Arson investigators are trying to determine who tried to set fire to a bank in Poulsbo Thursday morning. Officers received a call around 7:30 a.m. stating there was smoke coming from behind the Kitsap Bank on 7th Avenue, according to Chief Dan Schoonmaker with Poulsbo Police. Firefighters and officers arrived to find a smoking device and it was quickly extinguished.
