Maryland: Firefighter Video Shows Why You Should Always Sleep With Your Door Closed

VIDEO: Do you sleep with your door closed? A group of Maryland firefighters are reminding people to sleep with their bedroom doors closed — as it prevents fires from spreading quickly through the home. “THIS is why you should always sleep with you doors closed,” posted the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department.

Video: Alabama firefighters battle house engulfed in flames

Montgomery Fire Rescue shared an intense video of a house fire to their social media Wednesday. According to MFR’s Facebook page, the video is from a fire which happened around midnight in the 800 block of Buford Street. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the house was “fully involved” with flames and large amounts of smoke.

Drivers shocked by wrecked truck next to North Carolina highway. But there’s a story behind the warning.

A destroyed truck and large sign on the side of a Columbus County highway have no doubt caught the attention of thousands of drivers, and the fire chief behind the display hopes the message will shock people into yielding to emergency vehicles on the road. "The message is: Put down your phones, pay attention to what's going on, give us your undivided attention, so that way we can remain safe," said Steve Camlin, chief of Acme-Delco-Riegelwood Fire-Rescue.

Springfield (MO) Fire Department Reveals Project for Fire Stations

The city will also build two brand new stations in under-served areas. Station No. 13 in the 1900 block of West College, to go up in 2020, and Station No. 14 at 2026 West Chestnut Expressway in 2026.  

Fire Chief David Pennington says, "Thirteen's area is really at the center of what we call our Project Red Zone. It's an area of high call demand, areas of high fire frequency. This gives us the opportunity to put firefighters in the neighborhood to continue to reduce risk in that neighborhood through their interaction with the community. We're just really thankful we've got the opportunity to do this."

The city has known about under-served areas for years, but voter approval for a level property tax renewal in November 2017 provided the funding to build.
